RE-IMAGINING THE HQ OF A MULTI-BILLION POUND COMPANY

A similar story to most projects; a large open plan office – with multiple cellular rooms comprising of private offices and meeting rooms which doesn’t work in todays modern workplace.

Vision:

Like many companies, Trimble wanted to boost office attendance and provide a better working environment. Just as importantly, they needed the space to reflect their brand. Employees were proud to work there, and the design had to showcase that. Asked once again by our trusted collaborators at Ultimate, we set out to do what we do best.

Delivery:

As always, we began with functionality and aesthetics. The layout was designed to meet a range of needs: open-plan desking for the core team, hotdesking for visitors, huddle spaces and private booths for focused work, plus meeting rooms in varying sizes. We also introduced a wellbeing/lounge room, acoustic pods, and a central kitchen-breakout space that flows into a presentation area. Every zone was fitted with modern tech to make the office more interactive and efficient.

To give the space a clear sense of identity, we used brand colours in tonal layers, complemented by large digital graphics. Texture and materiality played a big role too—with 11 different floor finishes, 13 wall finishes, and over 20 fabrics bringing the design to life.

At 7,000 sq.ft in the heart of Newcastle, this is one of our favourite projects to date. With a significant rise in attendance and the potential to influence future offices, we see this as a huge success.
